There are so many things I have learned as a first time Mom. I am sharing my top 10 things I have learned as a new Mom.
1). There Is No Other Love Like It
I remember my good friend Andrea telling me when I was pregnant that the closest way she can describe becoming a Mom is that it is like your heart walking outside of your body. I never knew this type of love existed until I became a Mom.
2). Life Will Never Be The Same
The person I was before I became a Mom is a distant memory. My priorities have completely changed and everything in me has changed. My heart, my outlook on life all has changed.
3). You Will Survive The Lack Of Sleep
I have always needed my sleep. Typically a minimum of 8 hours was my goal before kids. Lack of sleep was my biggest fear becoming a Mom! I never thought I could still function (well maybe not function well) off of a few hours of sleep. My body has adjusted and I survived a ridiculous amount of sleep deprivation! I can’t exactly say I have had really good sleep consistently in the last two years. Mom sleep to me is different than before Mom sleep. I remember after I had my first daughter being in the hospital with her I slept maybe 4 hours in 4 days and guess what I made it!!!
4). Mama Bear Is Not a Force To Reckon With
I have always been protective over those I love but becoming a new Mom brought that to a whole another level! It’s honestly scary! I remember some guy who looked to be strung out on drugs came up to my car when I was strapping my daughter in her car seat and my Mama Bear instinct came out and let’s just say he left! There is a strong sense to protect my daughters and I would do anything to protect my family.
5). Its The Hardest Job
Its hard I mean really hard its the most selfless thing I have ever done in my life. I am always responsible for someone. Right now with young ones it is a thankless job but the smiles, hugs, and kisses make it all worth it. It’s the most rewarding tiring job I could ever have. All while being the best gift I could have been given and it is not something I take for granted.
6). You Will Hurt Like Never Before
My heart hurts with this world we live in. I can’t even watch the news anymore. Anything with kids affects me so deeply I would lose sleep after hearing awful stories on the news so I stopped watching it. I really have no clue what is going on locally or in the world and it’s terrible but at the same time it was necessary for me. My youngest daughter’s birth was super scary and we weren’t sure if she would be okay. It honestly was one of the hardest things I have ever gone through. My heart after becoming a Mom has never been the same.
7). Unconditional Love Is Real
No matter how hard the day is and how difficult I know life may be with being a Mom unconditional love is real and it’s true. I will always have unconditional love for my daughters.
8). People Will Judge You
I have really never been so judged in my life. Everyone has an opinion for everything. At the end of the day my husband and I know what’s best for our family and I realized that it doesn’t matter what other people think or have to say. I have a laundry list of pretty incredible things people have said to me in the last two years…yeah and not good incredible. I have just learned to laugh it off or fire back.
9). Google Was My Worst Enemy
Stay off of WebMD! My husband actually joked that he would block WebMD. I might be more of a worrier so this was bad sooo bad for me.
10). I Love My Spouse Differently
From the moment I gave birth to my daughter and my husband held her for the first time, my love for him changed. It’s different, I know how much he has always loved me but seeing him love and care for our daughters is so amazing. He truly is such an amazing Dad and I love him more than I thought I could for the way he loves our children.
