Happy 2019! I can’t believe 2018 is already gone and past. As most of you may know, we recently moved from Arizona to Southern California. It has been such a whirlwind the last two months but we are excited to be settled in and adjusting well to our new area! The first place I designed in the new house was our kitchen nook. It attaches to our kitchen and family room. Since we are renting I decided to make some simple changes that still make the place feel like ours. I am excited to share how to make a statement in your kitchen nook with you all, whether you rent or own these tips can apply.

Lighting is extremely important in a space! While I will be doing an update with an amazing chandelier soon -stay tuned, this one fit for the time being. Previously in the room, there was a super old fan that gave off the worst lighting.
I love these black dining room chairs from Inmod. They are a good contrast from the white table. They were super affordable and are solid, comfortable chairs. As a Mom to two little girls, I wanted something wipeable that I was able to clean easily. These chairs are perfect! They are modern yet super functional in our space.
The kitchen table with the marble top and gold base contrasted well in this space. I wanted to make the space stand out more. You can easily do that with contrasting colors. Black and white are always a great combination. Inmod has some beautiful dining room furniture.
There were no window treatments in this space before so we decided to add some black velvet curtains. They offered some nice texture against the tile floors.
I love accessorizing! It’s the icing on the cake for a well-designed room. Some easy ways to accessorize a kitchen table is with plants, candles, trays, placemats, and fun napkins. Here is a trick to always having your space look ready for guests is leaving it set with napkins and placemats all year long. Take those items out of your drawer and put them to use.
The small tile in our rental house is not my favorite. I chose to tackle that with large rugs. They hide the tile and this gray one adds a nice neutral pop.
