For a designer, developing a dream kitchen with a client is, yes…. a DREAM for me too. The incredible options in stoneware, cabinetry, fixtures, and appliances make the options for creating a gorgeous space endless. Today I am so excited to share my tips on designing a dream kitchen with you all!
It can also be overwhelming for a client to really hone in on what they want in their kitchen. Howard’s Pacifica Marina Store is so helpful for me when steering my clients to their dream kitchen. At Howard’s they can see, touch and feel the appliances in action, and I have found it helps so much in making confident choices.
One of the first decisions in kitchen design is to determine the function of your kitchen. Are you big entertainers, is baking your thing, or is it wine storage…? Do you really need two ovens? Once that is figured out, it’s time to research and investigate the options on the market. Appliance purchasing is daunting. There are so many options there too – Gas, electric, how many burners? How big of a fridge do you need?
To actually experience a taste of “living” with the Monogram appliances at Howard’s helps take the “scary” out of big purchases. Sometimes my clients have been surprised by an appliance they didn’t even know they needed in their life. Prime example: warming drawers are a huge win for busy families! You can keep dinner warm at a desired food consistency for whatever time the kids walk in the door. But without seeing them in person and knowledgeable salespeople to help figure out how it fits into the kitchen plan, it might not be on your list.
My job is to help my clients make these decisions with confidence and help them weed through all the options to find what is the best fit for them. The word “luxury” might scare some people – but really it just means that I always encourage my clients to put in the highest quality that their budget allows. Appliances need to work hard, be reliable, and last a long time. But hey, good lookin’ is important too! I have really fallen for the Monogram Collection when designing, not only are we checking those boxes, but the appliances really are the centerpieces of a beautiful kitchen. The Minimalist Line is inspiring for a sleek, modern kitchen It’s a clean look with sexy lines. The Statement Collection is more traditional with a look that will last a lifetime. Both have smart appliances that can be controlled by an app. Hello Jetsons!
Not only has the Monogram line given my kitchens such wow factor, but their Trade program has really assisted me in making sure that every appliance is perfectly “settled” into my blueprint – I’ve used their 3d Design tools to drop the exact specs of products into my kitchen design. It’s a designer’s dream and helps me sleep at night to know everything will come together on install day.
If you are thinking of redoing a kitchen, I hope this has helped you! Really think about the function of the kitchen for your family. Touch, feel, and experience the different appliances in action. Buy the best appliances your budget allows – for form, function and reliability. Enjoy the process! Hope you enjoyed this post on designing a dream kitchen.
