Happy March 1st! I am excited to share with you all today my family room makeover. This is one of my favorite spaces in our home and one that we spend a significant amount of time in. When we moved in, this room had a lot of potential. We did some simple updates in this space to brighten it up. See below my easy family room makeover tips and a before and after of my own family room makeover.
1). New paint- makes such a difference if you aren’t sure which color -white is an easy color to brighten your space up and it goes with everything!
2). Incorporate a large rug – A large rug actually makes the space feel larger don’t skimp of the size it makes such an impact in your space
3). Add plants and greenery -Not only does it look good it actually improves your air quality in your home
4). Style your coffee table with items you love – I love home decor (obviously!) so I have home decor books a pretty plant, and candles since I love candlelight and the way they make my house smell!
5). Add photos and artwork that are unique to you and your home. I love oversized frames and art that compliments your space well.
We brightened up the space with white paint (Benjamin Moore Glacier White) and new wood floors. I really wanted to create a space that was bright and cheery with a modern transitional boho vibe (can I put those all in one sentence?!). Comfort, design, and functionality in this space were my main priorities.
We updated the ceiling fan which we purchased from craigslist (it was barely used and saved us $100)! The rug is from Annie Selke’s Dash and Albert Line and is called Gray Checks. A large rug makes the space feel so much bigger and makes such a difference in the space. Our sofa which you can’t tell from the photos is large and so comfy and from Living Spaces! The tv media console we updated from Ikea.

This painting is from Emily Anne Farrell Art. It’s a custom art piece, that she created. We love it so much! I love that it’s unique and she was able to customize the colors specifically for our space. The acrylic shelves are from Piece + Palette, love these shelves!
I love styling coffee tables! A fun tray, books, some greenery, an amazing smelling candle (love this one by Soyil -it smells so good and is their Home Sweet Home scent!) are my go to’s for styling a coffee table.
This simple coffee table is such a great price! Under $260! I linked it above.
