Today, I am sharing how I designed and refreshed my office with At Home stores. I am so grateful that I was able to elevate the design within my home given the circumstances we are all in. While I did all my shopping before the spread of the Coronavirus, I was able to put it into place while we have been at home. It’s been a whirlwind last month as I am sure it has been for all you. While I typically spend part of my week in the field doing site visits the rest is at home in my office. I love being able to have space to focus and work. Today, I wanted to share some ideas on designing a home office space with you. While we are all quarantined we can focus on putting together a space that you can enjoy working from and can piece together ideas for your space from At Home stores.
This post has been sponsored by At Home however, all opinions are my own.
Typically when I start the design of a room. I design the space around the feel and style I want from the space. I develop a color scheme and design around the functional needs of the space and how to make the space comfortable.
1). Workspace aka your desk
A space comfortable to work from is so incredibly important! A traditional desk for me does not work given my work. I prefer to actually use a dining table so that I can maximize my work area. Whether it’s reviewing samples or plans the larger work stations work for me. Make sure your workspace fit’s your needs and the size of your office. Scale is everything! Make sure you measure to maximize your space. I prefer to float my furniture and it makes it easier to move around. If you don’t have a lot of space you can align it next to the wall.
2). Seating
Comfortable seating is a must! I loved these chairs from At Home, the pop of yellow in velvet is the perfect color for my office space. They have so many fun options for seating. If yellow isn’t your color then they have lots of other options for you. Don’t be afraid to pull in color in furniture.
I also found additional chairs in white velvet to add to my office when needed.
3). Storage
Make sure you have storage for all your office supplies. I like to use containers that look pretty for storage when it’s placed in the open. I found the prettiest storage containers and baskets from At Home. For pen storage on my desk, I used a vase. I have boxes to hide a lot of the other not so pretty office supplies and to keep them organized.
I decided to have a bar set up in my office. At Home had such gorgeous bar accessories. After a long day, this is the perfect place to mix together a cocktail!
4) Lighting
Make sure your space is well lit! I already had the lighting in this space however At Home has lots of fun options to light your space.
5). Accessorize
I was able to bring in so many fun accessories that won’t break the bank from At Home. They had so many fun vases, baskets, candle holders, barware, coasters. Literally the list goes on! I was able to bring in some color with plants. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and add some unique fun accessories. It’s easy to recreate this look even if you have a different style or color theme. Be sure it all coordinates and fits your needs!
Hope you enjoyed this post on designing a home office! While we are in quarantine it’s a perfect time to design and put together ideas for a room refresh. Visit At Home to piece together some ideas online! I would love to see what you all come up with.
