MODERN LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER ON A BUDGET: ONE ROOM CHALLENGE FINAL REVEAL

We love relaxing and entertaining in this space. It’s one of my favorite spots to curl up on our comfy sofa and read a book!

HOW I DESIGNED THIS SPACE:

1. First, I measured the space we were working with. This is extremely important so that I knew exactly what size furniture to scale I should be purchasing for this room.
2. I put together a rough draft vision/design board of what pieces would look good together. This helps tremendously in piecing your room together!
3. I finalized the design board.
4. I ordered the furniture.
5. I added textiles, pillows, art, and accessories that complimented this space.
6. I put it all together!

This is typically how I go about designing a space every time. Measuring is key! You want to make sure your furniture fits well in the space you are designing.

FURNITURE:

The majority of the furniture is from Overstock! We love their price point, variety of products, and how quickly you can receive the items. This was so helpful in designing this space, quickly in six weeks!

I chose this white round coffee table to add some dimension in the space against the sofa. The sofa is an off white linen from Overstock’s Inspire Q line and I absolutely love it in the space.

The accent chair has a mid-century modern feel and it is so comfortable. The velvet is super soft and dresses up the space a bit.

I chose this wood bench for additional seating and love the way it breaks up the white wall. I added a sheepskin throw to add some softness. I printed this artwork from Etsy, and added some fun pillows. The orange pillow is from Marshall’s and the other is from Loom to linen, they have so many amazing pillows. I was so excited to add this one to our space.

The drapery is from Half Priced Drapes. We absolutely love these drapes! They are lined velvet and give off a custom drapery look on 1/4 of the price. They make such an impact in the space. The color I chose was their Signature Reflection Grey Blackout Velvet. It’s a soft gray but adds the perfect amount of contrast against our white walls. I couldn’t be happier with these drapes!

LIVING ROOM DESIGN BOARD:

This was the first version of the design board and what I started with.

BEFORE:

The picture below is right before we moved in. The space was very neutral to start. We changed out the floors painted and removed the pillars in the space to open the room up, and it feels so much bigger now.
