It’s the first week of April and do you know what that means? The One Room Challenge is officially started and underway! I am so excited to be participating as a guest participant this year and redoing our living room from boring and plain to a tailored dramatic living room and seating area. It’s going to be such a great space to entertain in. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the One Room Challenge, it is a series where bloggers and designers, transform spaces over a six week period. We document our progress and showcase our final reveal at the end. Today I will be sharing the current state of the room and the design plans as well as some inspiration for our One Room Challenge Living Room Design Makeover.
Our entryway opens up right into our living room so I want to make this space inviting. Disregard the boxes and the mess this space will soon be transformed!
The positives about the space are that it has lots of natural light and tall ceilings. The downside is that the room is very beige. The walls are beige and the floors. I definitely want to mix that up. While we are renting, I don’t have the luxury to repaint the walls so I will be getting creative to mix up this space.
The goals of my new space are to have additional seating and a comfortable place to entertain in, read a book after a long day, or enjoy some wine in.
How gorgeous is this room? I love the contrast between black and white.

Here is my first draft of the designs for this space. Along the way, I may make some tweaks but overall this is my vision for the space.
Stay tuned over the next 6 weeks on how this room progresses! Hope you enjoyed this post on my One Room Challenge Living Room Design Makeover Week 1. You can see my other completed One Room Challenges here and here.
