We had been in our house about a year when we decided to tackle remodeling the kitchen! I dreaded the kitchen when we moved in. It was dark and the cabinets were literally falling off the hinges, it was a mess! We also knew we needed a lot more storage as well and wanted to expand the island. Our kitchen was in bad shape but we had a tight budget to complete the kitchen remodel! Today I am sharing how we took the steps to transform our kitchen and stay on budget. I will be sharing how we completed our kitchen remodel on a budget for under $10,000!

Serious planning with your kitchen remodel is the best way to stay on track and not have surprises. Don’t be afraid to negotiate either! Put your budget on paper.
We started by listing out everything and I mean everything that we would need for our kitchen remodel, such as hardware, sink, countertops, backsplash, installation costs, fabrication costs, demo costs etc… I definitely recommend spreadsheeting it out! Create an inspiration board for your kitchen. Then start your research on places to buy cabinets, countertops, and installers, and start price shopping!
1.). Create a rough layout and design for your kitchen to insure it is more functional than before, make sure you measure!
2). Then price out cabinets! We priced out cabinets at multiple places. We went to Ikea, Home Depot, and other local places. Ikea’s cabinets were going to run us over $5,000. Home depot was going to be around the same price and the local family owned place was about $4,000. The local company we chose had solid wood cabinets with dove tail drawers and soft close doors. We were beyond happy with the price and a good friend of ours had used them as well and was very happy! Make sure you find a great installer for your cabinets as well a lot of times the place you get your cabinets can install them or recommend someone.
3). Price out your countertop choices! Countertop selection was definitely the most challenging decision for my husband and I. I struggle with liking things that are not always the most practical. My husband on the other hand is all practical. I really wanted marble countertops but with much back and forth and knowing that with kids that might be a challenge, we decided on quartz (there will be a whole post on this).
4). Find a fabricator for your countertops they will install and cut the countertops. We found an amazing fabricator who didn’t make us pay additional fees for sink cutouts or drilling for faucets. That may not sound like a big deal but every penny counted. They charged us $30 a square feet to fabricate and install our quartz countertops!
6). Shop for sinks, hardware, faucets and lighting! Amazon is where we found all of this at amazing prices you can see some of the options below.
7). Find someone to demo your kitchen – we chose to donate our cabinets to a non-profit organization for veterans. It is a great cause and it allowed us to demo our kitchen for around $300.
Demo of kitchen: $300
Cabinets: $4,000
Installation of cabinets $600
Countertops: $3800
Hardware/sinks/faucets/lighting $600
Backsplash materials & installation $450
Total remodel cost: $9,750
*I didn’t include the appliances in this cost breakdown.
We are beyond happy with our remodel and wouldn’t change a thing! Serious planning is what helped make sure we stayed on track.
I hope you enjoyed our kitchen remodel on a budget for under $10,000! Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Those are amazing prices. Where do you live? I could afford that kitchen! Mine is very similar to yours.
Im getting ready to remodel my kitchen. I would love to know what state you live in.
Hi Karen! I am in Arizona.
Doing a similar kitchen. What are the dimensions of your island? Mine is going to be 2×6 with counter top to be 4×7. Trying to figure how many it will seat.
Hi! Our island was 52” x 60” wide. It was a tight fit with the 3 stools but we made it work.

Absolutely gorgeous! My kitchen is similar dimension and layout! What is the island made up of? Is it cabinets and drawers? What are the dimensions of the island! Thanks! MB
Hi Mary Beth! Thanks so much! The island is cabinets is actually upper cabinets on the side that the chairs face so there is storage there and then on the other side I have mainly drawers and double trash bin cabinet which is so handy! The dimensions are 36 x 52 inches. Hope that helps!
What color/brand quartz did you use?! Gorgeous kitchen!
Hi Jenny! Thanks so much! The brand is Silestone and the color is Helix we have been really happy with it!
Where are your Island chairs from?
Hi Sarah! They are from World Market.
Beautiful kitchen! What size is the base of the island? I have a similar size island (before) but looking to make it wider like the one you have (after).
Hi Lani we actually used regular base cabinets on the back side and the front side we used uppers so they weren’t as deep but we still have additional storage. My island base is 38″x60″ and my countertop is 50″x64″. Hope that helps!
So beautiful! Can you tell me more details of your remodel- where you got the cabinets and quartz as well as your contractor and fabricator? I’m in Arizona as well and about to do a full Kitchen remodel. I would love to get these prices!
Hi! Yes absolutely would love to share. I went to Cabinets Beyond for my cabinets and the quartz is Silestone Helix from North Valley Interiors they had their team fabricate the counters. Hope that helps, best of luck to you on your remodel! You will have to share a before and after!
Bethany – i love your island stools! I see they are from World Market, but i don’t see them with the darker stain. Did you do this yourself to the lighter shade?
Hi Shannon! They actually came in this color I bought them probably 1.5 years ago.

This is beautiful!! Do you mind sharing what finish you chose for hardware? I’m in the middle of a remodel and can’t decide! ?
Thanks!!
Hi! It was chrome finish I linked some of it in the post
This is a gorgeous remodel! Do you have a source list for everything? Which cabinet style did you use from Cabinets Beyond? Where did you find your sink? I’m in Arizona as well ? Thank you for sharing, great job!
Hi Melissa! Thanks so much! I chose the shaker style cabinets from Cabinets Beyond and the sink I ordered off Amazon. I actually like the one I have now better. It is a single basin. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hello, Looking at your before picture is similar to my kitchen now. I am in the middle of remodeling my kitchen and I also have the white shaker cabinets. I am now in the process of choosing the quartz. My fabricator gave me a quote today that was much higher then yours. When I requested a lower price he came down $300 but it is still higher then yours. I live in Lithia springs, ga and I was referred to him by my contractor. Any advice?
Hi Lisa! My recommendation would be to get 3 quotes. This should give you a good ballpark on whether or not the price is reasonable. I always say go direct buy your countertops separate from the installer or at least know the price of the slabs and what they are charging for install. I would ask them what their cost is per sq ft to fabricate and what they charge for cutouts such as sinks and faucets. Then when you get other quotes I am always upfront and tell them I am getting additional quotes so they price fair. Hope that helps!!!
Beautiful! What is the wall color?
Hi!! The paint color is Behr Mineral.
